A Children's Consignment Sale

Preparing/Tagging Items

The following are some guidelines to help you as you prepare and price your items for the sale. Please note what items we do and do not accept at the Sale. If after reading this information, you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email

 Materials Needed for Pricing/Tagging

  • white cardstock  for printing tags (NO PAPER)
  • hangers for clothing (any type)
  • QUALITY safety pins (no straight pins)
  • Ziploc bags
  • packing tape (for attaching tags to books, toys, furniture, etc.)
Gather and Organize Items

 
The more organized you are, the quicker Tagging, Drop Off and Pick Up will be! As best as you can, order your items by GENDER and SIZE before you start.

Prepare Your Items

Wash, iron (as needed), repair buttons, gather loose pieces of toys and do whatever is necessary to ensure that your items are in excellent condition. Items will be returned that do not meet our guidelines. Please Click HERE to find out more about items that we do/don't accept and how best to prepare them for sale. 

- Hang clothing on Hangers. Hanger should look like a question mark when you are looking at the front of the garment. Pants should be hung from the top of the hanger, so that they are not able to slide to one corner of the hanger.

(It's easy, quick & fun!)
 
  • Gather your sale items beside you at the computer.
  • Make sure you are Registered as a Consignor. If not, please do so. If you are already registered, click on the Consignor Sign-in link. The link to do so is on the Consignor Page in the Consignor Links box. 

  • Enter your items for the sale into the on-line system. 

    Enter a description and price for each of your items. Do this carefully and accurately. The more detailed you are in your description, the easier it is for us to identify your item should it become separated from it's tag. For example, matching a tag that says "Jeans" is difficult. Matching a tag that says, "Old Navy Jeans with yellow and pink flowers" is much easier. You will be able to save your work and come back to it later if you'd like. If you have questions on how to price your items, Click HERE to see our Pricing Guidelines. 

  • You will be able to choose whether or not you would like to DONATE your unsold items. You will be able choose to donate  NONE, ALL or select certain items to donate after the sale if they do not sell. You will also be able to choose whether or not you would like your items to go half-price at the Half-Price sale. You may select NONE, ALL  or certain items that you would like to mark half-price. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND - ONCE YOU HAVE GOTTEN YOUR SALE ITEMS OUT OF YOUR HOUSE - DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BRING THEM BACK IN? Please strongly consider marking your items half-price and to donate any un-sold items to charity.
  • PRINT TAGS onto white cardstock. We have found that paper tags are more likely to rip and/or become separated from sale items. Cut tags and pin them with safety pins onto the upper right hand side of the garment (when facing the garment). When attaching the tag to a ziploc bag, toy, furniture, etc... please tape over top portion of the tag, so that the tag will remain attached, but so we may remove the bottom portion at check-out. PLEASE ASK IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS - IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ATTACH YOUR TAGS PROPERLY, SO THEY DO NOT GET LOST. 
    • When attaching tags to larger items/toys/shoes, etc... please secure with packing tape. 
    Item Drop Off
  • When you come to the sale with your items, we will have drop-off assistants there to make sure that all of your items are tagged correctly and labeled securely. We will also check your items and make sure that they are seasonally appropriate and in good selling condition.  PLEASE DO NOT BRING ITEMS THAT ARE STAINED OR IN WORN CONDITION. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL TOYS/ELECTRONICS WORK - YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO INCLUDE BATTERIES, BUT ALL ITEMS MUST BE IN WORKING CONDITION.

    Item Pick Up

  • Pick Up is Sunday, September 26th (6pm-9pm). It is very important that you pick up the items that you are not donating since we can't store your items. ALL ITEMS LEFT AFTER PICK UP BECOME PROPERTY OF RING AROUND THE ROSY. 

     

  • Remember, consignors may shop early. The Consignor's Pre-sale is Tuesday, August 31st (2pm-9pm).

    Pricing Your Items
    • Although our consignors set the prices for their own items, we suggest 25-30% of the retail price. For items that still have the original tags, we suggest 40-50% of the retail price. Don't forget that our shoppers are looking for bargains, so please price your items to sell. We suggest that you mark your items to sell for half-price at the half-price sale. If you have pricing questions, please feel free to contact us for advice.
    • Items must be priced in increments of $.50 ($2.50, $3.00, $3.50) and MUST have a minimum value of $2.50. If an item is not worth $2.50, then group it together with another item(s). When possible group items together in a Ziploc bag or if the items are clothing, please rubber band the hangers together. Please do not rubberband items together that are priced seperately.

     



    Accepted Items & Preparing/Packaging Details


    Clothing

      • We accept children's clothing, sizes infant to kid's XL (16-18).
      • We will accept maternity clothing, CURRENT styles only!
      • Clothing should be freshly laundered and ironed, if necessary. Please check all items for stains, missing buttons, broken zippers, etc. We will check each item at Drop Off and worn, stained and damaged items will not be accepted. The better the item looks, the better it will sell.
      • Pin pants and skirts to the hangers. You may use skirt hangers if you are adverse to pinning the clothing. Please pin all sets and accessories together, as long as they are priced as one item.
      • Clothing should be seasonally appropriate. Spring/Summer clothing for our March sale and Fall/Winter for our September sale.

      Shoes

      • Please only bring your like-new shoes. You may group several pairs together if they are the same size.
      • Each pair of shoes must be in a Ziploc bag with the tag taped to the outside of the bag. Each bag should be taped shut, so the pair remains together.

      Bedding/Blankets

      • Bedding should be seasonally appropriate.  
      • It is best that you package sets together in large storage bags.  
      • Blankets should be hung and pinned onto hangers, so that the customers can see them. The tag should be pinned onto the blanket. In regards to receiving blankets, please group several together in a Ziploc bag.

      Loose Items

      For smaller, loose items like bottles, rattles, socks, bibs, etc... please group together and place in Ziploc bags. Use packing tape to attach tags to bags. 

       

      Toys

      • Must be in clean and working order. 
      • Please place small parts in Ziploc bag and attach to the toy. 
      • Please check game and puzzles and make sure that no pieces are missing. Do NOT tape boxes shut. Non-boxed puzzles should be placed in a Ziploc, if possible.  
      • We will only accept educational/name brand stuffed animals (Elmo, Disney, Barbie, Leap Frog, etc...) 
      • Large Little Tykes toys and furniture typically sell very well. Please make sure they are cleaned, especially if they have been used outdoors. Make sure that the tags are secured well with packing tape.
      • Toy Recall Information: Due to the high number of toy recalls during the past year, we ask that you be very dilligent in checking the following website for recalled toy information: www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/toy.html.  We reserve the right to pull any toy.

      Car Seats

      We will only be accepting car seats that have been manufactured within the past 3 years. It must not be subject to recall or have been in an accident. You may check the following website for current recalls: www.carseat.org/Recalls/179NP.pdf. You will be asked to sign a waiver. 


      Furniture/Equipment

      We will be accepting children's furniture and equipment (cribs, changing tables, dressers, beds, etc...). Please make sure that all tags are securely taped.
